Nestled in the heart of Ann Arbor at 117 E Liberty St, RoosRoast Liberty is a vibrant coffee haven that elevates your daily caffeine ritual with remarkable creativity and character. More than just a cafe, RoosRoast is an espresso bar and coffee shop that celebrates the art of brewing coffee in ways both classic and unconventional, offering a rich, sensory experience that lingers long after the last sip.
Step inside, and you're immediately enveloped by a lively atmosphere punctuated by colorful handpainted signs, walls adorned with captivating art, and shelves filled with unique merchandise that reflect the café’s bold personality. Unlike any other spot in town, it’s a place where the vibe is as rich and layered as the coffee itself: funky, warm, and inviting—a perfect blend of comfort and eccentricity.
The menu at RoosRoast is a treasure trove for coffee aficionados and food lovers alike. Their signature RR Long Pull is a standout—brewed European style through the espresso machine, it masterfully bridges the gap between an Americano and a brewed coffee, crowned with a luscious crema that’s both intense and smooth. As one customer described, it drinks like a mocha pot brew: strong and smoky, yet surprisingly fruity and sweet—a true testament to the craftsmanship behind every cup.
For those who seek a broader palette, RoosRoast offers an enticing array of specialty drinks. The Honey Vanilla Latte and Matcha Latte create a beautifully balanced harmony of sweetness and earthiness, with one guest recounting how the honey vanilla matcha latte was “not too sweet and pretty to look at,” perfect for sipping while getting work done amid the café’s chill music and quiet corners. The menu also features luscious options like the Flat White, Cortado, Vietnamese Iced Coffee, and an intriguing Organic Turmeric Ginger Tea that blends healing spices with vibrant flavors.
Beyond the exceptional drinks, RoosRoast’s food offerings are equally compelling and reflect a dedication to fresh, locally sourced ingredients and inventive flavor combinations. The Cheesy Potato Burrito is a beloved classic filled with garlicky potatoes, scrambled eggs, and a cilantro-lime mayo that delivers bites bursting with savory warmth and subtle spice. For something heartier, the Carnitas Burrito loaded with pulled pork and jasmine rice offers rich, smoky layers, while the Vegan Breakfast Burrito ensures that plant-based guests enjoy the same thoughtful, flavorful experience.
Patrons frequently praise the food as well as the welcoming ambiance. Elana CK’s heartfelt reflection captures the burrito’s unforgettable charm: “Nowhere in the world have I experienced a breakfast burrito as perfect as RoosRoast’s.” Meanwhile, Isabella Castineyra loved the “delish” burritos with their captivating adobe seasoning, paired perfectly with a smooth vanilla latte or rich mocha.
Service at RoosRoast consistently receives accolades for its warmth and attentiveness. Larry Berry highlights how the staff’s friendly nature complements the coffee's perfection, while the cleanliness and comfortable seating encourage lingering moments and casual catchups alike, as noted by Eliora T’s productive early morning visit. Whether you’re seeking a place to focus or a cozy nook to unwind, this café skillfully blends efficiency with hospitality.
For those wanting to extend the RoosRoast experience beyond their visit, the café offers meticulously sourced beans like the Lobster Butter Love, a rotating single origin option that invites customers to savor the nuanced, mysterious flavors of their signature roasts at home.
RoosRoast Liberty is much more than a coffee shop—it’s an immersive celebration of coffee culture wrapped in personality, exceptional quality, and genuine community spirit. Whether you crave precisely crafted espresso drinks, crave satisfying burritos that feel like a warm hug, or simply want to soak in an atmosphere buzzing with artistic flair and kindness, RoosRoast promises an experience that captivates and comforts in equal measure.
It’s been many years since I could visit, but another disappointing burrito experience elsewhere had me reminiscing about the one that got away. I now live in California, which is supposed to be burrito ground zero, but it’s been almost a decade, and nowhere in the world have I experienced a breakfast burrito as perfect as RoosRoast’s. If I ever return to Ann Arbor, I might make up some reason to sound socially acceptable, but really, it will purely be to experience that perfection again. If you live there, or are visiting, do not miss out. This is one to beat all others. Since it’s technically a coffee shop, I remember their coffee being great as well, but I’m not enough of a connoisseur beyond “I am enjoying this drink” to comment much on the coffee. Their burrito though… it haunts me in the best way. I miss you.
I went here early to get some work done and then meet up with a friend to catchup. The coffee shop smelled so good as I was in and the baristas were super friendly and kind. The shop was clean too! I had a honey vanilla matcha latte and it was really good, not too sweet and was pretty to look at. It was made quickly and I sat at the corner to do some work. The music was chill and at a good volume It was a little bit more expensive than i expected but it's ok since I don't buy breakfast all the time.
Funky, full of character. From the colorful hand-painted signs to the art-covered walls and quirky merch, the vibe here is loud, bold, and full of personality—just like their coffee. I ordered the Long Pull, drinks like a Moka pot brew—strong, intense, and smoky—but also surprisingly fruity and sweet. I also picked up a bag of their Lobster Butter Love beans to take home. I tried to brew with an Aeropress. I tried with several different grind levels and brewing method, and I have to say it turn out to be below average. There is this bitterness that you cannot get rid of. Maybe it's my coffee making skill though. Service is extremely good. The warm welcome makes your day!
Roos Roast is top notch. The coffee (I had the delish Lobster 16 oz ) is perfection! So creamy and delicious! The service is warm and welcoming. I had the blueberry muffin. Wowsa delicious! Roos Roast is top notch.
Quick stop by and it was delish. Got the breakfast burritos and they had an adobe seasoning which was so yummy. Vanilla latte was great too. My boyfriend got a mocha and he loved it too! If I lived here I would go to RoosRoast all the time. Recommend!
Inhale the love and enjoy the coffee, the vibe is friendly and my oat milk latte was delicious. I love a Ms. Pacman cocktail table and if Amy was here we would have been on it for an hour. Right? Let’s be real, Where have all the pound bags of coffee gone??? Respect for having pound bags and even 5# bags! Note: I love the stamp/branding on the bags, great design and aesthetics!
